Frequently asked questions

What happens when I hit my send limit? +
Sends are blocked with an upgrade prompt. No surprise bills - ever. You can also buy credit top-ups (1,000 sends for $9, 5,000 for $35, 10,000 for $60) on any plan.
What is included in the free trial? +
The 30-day trial includes 1,000 one-time sends, 500 contacts, 100 one-time AI calls, and a shared phone number. All channels (SMS, email, voice) are included. No credit card required.
Why can't I send SMS or voice to my contacts during my trial? +
SingleSend's shared pool sends only to phone numbers you've personally verified as your own (up to 5 per workspace). This keeps our platform compliant with carrier rules around shared messaging infrastructure. To send to your full contact list, register your own dedicated number - we'll guide you through the process from your settings.
How do I verify a number I own? +
Go to the contact page for the number, click "Verify ownership," and follow the 3-step flow: confirm the attestation, the recipient replies YES to a disclosure SMS, then enter the 6-digit code they receive. See our Terms for details on attestation requirements.
What counts as an AI call? +
Each use of the AI assistant, message composer, smart send time, or sequence builder counts as one AI call. Pro and Business plans include unlimited AI calls.
Can I get additional phone numbers? +
Yes. Every paid plan includes 1 dedicated phone number. Additional numbers are $7/mo each. Trial accounts use a shared number.
Can I choose my phone number? +
Yes. On any paid plan you pick your own dedicated number - search by area code or city and pick from the available list. You can choose a local US number or a toll-free number (8xx). Toll-free numbers require carrier verification (~3-5 days) and have slightly higher per-message rates, but they skip 10DLC and work great for customer-support or broadcast use cases.
Can I change my phone number later? +
Yes, once every 90 days. We rate-limit number changes to protect deliverability and keep your messaging reputation stable with carriers. If you release a number, replies to it keep routing to your workspace for a 30-day grace period so nothing falls through the cracks.
Can I change plans at any time? +
Yes. Upgrade or downgrade anytime from your billing settings. Changes take effect immediately with prorated billing.
What channels are included on all plans? +
Every plan includes SMS, email, and voice messaging. Higher tiers unlock more sends, contacts, and advanced features like voice cloning, team inbox, and unlimited AI.
What is a custom sending domain? +
A custom sending domain lets you send emails from your own domain (e.g. you@yourcompany.com) instead of a shared one. It improves deliverability and brand trust. Available on all paid plans.
How do replies to my emails work? +
Every workspace gets a unique reply-to address (e.g. hello+your-company@m.singlesend.com). When contacts reply, their messages appear in your inbox automatically. If you have a custom sending domain, replies go directly to your domain email address instead.
Is there a contract or commitment? +
No contracts. All plans are month-to-month. Cancel anytime from your settings - no questions asked.
Do you handle carrier registration for SMS? +
Yes. SingleSend has a guided in-app wizard that walks you through 10DLC or toll-free carrier registration with major US carriers. We collect the required business info, validate it, and submit on your behalf. 10DLC takes ~10 min of paperwork plus 1-2 weeks for carrier approval; toll-free takes ~3-5 days.
What SMS limits apply on the shared platform number? +
Until you provision a dedicated number, your workspace uses our shared platform number. To protect carrier delivery quality for all customers, sending limits apply: trial workspaces get 20 SMS per day, paid workspaces without a dedicated number get 100 SMS per day, and once you have your own number on a paid plan you send freely under your plan's send limit. All workspaces on shared infrastructure are capped at 3 SMS to the same recipient within any 24-hour period. Limits double on shared when you've added a verified business website (privacy policy required). For unrestricted volume, complete 10DLC registration or toll-free verification and use a dedicated number.
Why am I asked to verify my phone number before sending SMS? +
Each user who sends SMS must verify their personal phone via a one-time code (OTP). It is a one-time per-user check that helps us prevent abuse and stay compliant with US carrier requirements. We send up to 3 OTP codes per phone number per hour. The verification persists across sessions, so you only do it once per device-trusted user.
What is the SMS compliance attestation? +
Before your workspace can send SMS, the workspace OWNER (not members) must accept a one-time attestation confirming you have proper opt-in for your contacts and will honor STOP keywords. This is a US carrier requirement applied uniformly across the industry. It takes about 30 seconds in Settings and you only do it once per workspace.
What if my message gets blocked as spam-looking? +
We run a lightweight pre-send classifier on shared-pool SMS to catch obviously spam-shaped messages (links to suspicious shorteners, urgent-action language, etc) before they damage your sender reputation. If the classifier blocks a message you think is fine, you can appeal it inline (5 appeals per hour) and a real human reviews it. Workspaces sending from a dedicated number after carrier registration are exempt from automated classification.
How does the message-pacing cap work on shared numbers? +
While you're using our shared platform number, we cap sends at 3 SMS to the same recipient within any 24-hour window. This prevents one workspace's high-velocity messaging from getting the entire shared pool flagged by carriers. Once you provision a dedicated number after 10DLC or toll-free registration, the per-recipient pacing cap no longer applies and you send freely under your plan limit.
Why do you need my business info for SMS? +
US mobile carriers (T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon) require all business SMS senders to register with The Campaign Registry (TCR). Without registration, carriers heavily filter or silently drop messages - typically 30-40% non-delivery on T-Mobile alone. The registration ties a sender brand and use case to a phone number, lets carriers verify legitimate business traffic, and gives you reliable delivery plus higher throughput. We collect this info to register you with TCR; it is not used for any other purpose. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Do I need to register my business to send SMS? +
Yes. T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon require all business SMS senders to register - without registration, carriers heavily filter or silently drop messages. SingleSend offers two paths: 10DLC (local number) is best for businesses with an EIN, gives you a local number with full throughput, and takes ~10 min of paperwork plus 1-2 weeks for carrier approval. Toll-Free Verified is for solo consultants and businesses without an EIN, gives you a toll-free number, and takes ~3-5 days for approval. Until you complete registration, you can use our shared platform number with daily limits (see Fair Use).
What if I don't have an EIN? +
Use the Toll-Free Verified path. It only requires a business name, address, a live website, and a description of your opt-in workflow - no EIN needed. Approval typically takes 3-5 days and gets you a 1-800/833/844-style toll-free number with solid carrier delivery. If you'd prefer 10DLC for branding reasons, you can form an LLC (~$100 plus 1 hour at your state's Secretary of State website), then register with your new EIN.
What happens if I accidentally delete a contact? +
Don't worry - we've got you covered. When you delete a contact, it's soft-deleted, meaning it's recoverable. Your data stays safe, and our support team can restore any accidentally deleted contact in seconds. No data is ever permanently lost without your explicit confirmation.
Can I undo a contact merge? +
Absolutely. We snapshot every contact before a merge, so if you realize you merged the wrong records, our support team can undo it completely - restoring the original contacts with all their data intact. It's like a safety net for your contact management.
What kind of support do you offer? +
Every SingleSend account comes with AI-powered instant support built right into the app. Ask questions, get help with setup, or troubleshoot issues - all without leaving your dashboard. Need human help? One click escalates to our team with full context, so you never have to repeat yourself.
What happens to my data if I cancel? +
Your billing records are securely retained for 7 years (as required by law), but all personal data, contacts, messages, and workspace data are permanently deleted when you close your account. You can export everything first with one click - we make it easy to take your data with you.
Do you offer a free trial? +
Yes! Every new account starts with a free trial that includes the same features as our Starter plan - 1,000 messages, 500 contacts, and full access to AI-powered compose, inbox, and analytics. No credit card required. See the value before you commit.
How does the referral program work? +
Share your unique referral link with friends and colleagues. When they sign up and subscribe to a paid plan, you both win - you get bonus send credits added to your account automatically. The more people you refer, the more you send for free.
Is my data secure? +
Security isn't an afterthought at SingleSend - it's foundational. All personal data is encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM (the same standard banks use). We verify every webhook with cryptographic signatures, enforce role-based access across your team, and maintain comprehensive audit logs so you always know who did what.
Can multiple people use the same account? +
Yes - SingleSend is built for teams. Invite members with granular roles (Owner, Admin, Manager, Member), assign inbox threads automatically with round-robin, leave internal notes with @mentions, and track team workload from your dashboard. Collaboration is a first-class feature, not a bolt-on.
